Following a union-level ceasefire agreement, the Karenni National Progressive Party opened its first liaison office in the Karenni state capital of Loikaw yesterday.

 

 

(2) Taliban calls on Pakistan to sever relations with Burma  : Source : DVB

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Thursday threatened to attack Burma to avenge crimes against the Muslim Rohingya, unless Pakistan halts all relations with the government and shuts its embassy in Islamabad.

The World Organization for Animal Health OIE (WOAH) will provide Burma 500,000 doses of vaccines for foot and mouth disease for cattle, an official at the Myanmar Livestock Federation (MLF) said.

Asian World Company, the biggest infrastructure and construction company in Burma says it will re-house a hundred families relocated from Htone Bo village, because of the construction of a hydro-power dam project on the Palet River. Htone Bo village is located 14 miles from Taungoo Town in Pago Division.

Naw Dabora Htoo, education coordinator with the Karen Refugee Committee, said schoolteachers working in refugee camps along the Thai-Burma border are long over due a pay rise, but this academic year they will get an increase in their monthly subsidy.

Five Burmese soldiers have been killed and several others were injured from a Kachin Independence Army (KIA) bomb attack in Bankawng Mu, on July 24. The village, which is located between Myitkyina and Bhamo (or Manmaw), is patrolled by both KIA and government forces.

Villagers from Bwi Daw claim two businessmen have forced them off their land at gunpoint.Residents say Lasang Awng Wa and U Min Nyo have confiscated their land near Mali Hka River in Kachin State to expand a Djenkol Bean tree and fish farm.
