(1) Thai authorities rescue migrants enslaved on fishing vessels : Source : DVB

Eighteen Burmese migrants forced to work as slaves on a Thai fishing boat were rescued by the Thai police’s Anti-Human Trafficking Division on 22 July at a port 300 kilometers southeast of Bangkok in Laem Ngop district, Trat province.

The Zaykabar company, which has been locked in  a legal dispute with farmers in Rangoon division over a land confiscation dispute, has slammed a defamation lawsuit against a political party’s chairman who has been providing the affected group with legal aid.
