Shan army’s key bridge burnt down

A key bridge of the Shan State Army (SSA) ‘North’, Ta Pha Hsawng crossing of Lawng river, a tributary of the Pang, between 3 townships: Kehsi, Mongyai and Hsipaw, was burnt down by the Burma Army troops who attacked the SSA there on 21 June, according to SSA sources.

Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – A second bomb exploded in Mandalay on 84th Road between 31st Road and 32nd Road at around 3 p.m. on Friday. There were no injuries. The bomb exploded near the Sainsabelphoo gold shop and a rubbish pile located near Pariyatti Sasana Association. The location is 800 feet from the site of the first bomb explosion around noon.

Chiang Mai (Mizzima) -Three powerful bombs exploded within minutes of each other in Mandalay, Naypyitaw, the capital, and Maymyo on Friday. This was followed by a second bomb explosion in Mandalay a few hours later. The first bomb exploded at noon in downtown Mandalay. The bomb was placed in a Pajero sports utility vehicle with the license plate number 3B/1984 parked in front of the Zaygyo Hotel.

Russia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexey N. Borodavkin, who is also the country's nuclear envoy to North Korea, led a delegation to Naypyidaw on Wednesday to meet Burmese counterparts.
According to Burma's state-run The New Light of Myanmar, Borodavkin met with Burma's Vice-President Tin Aung Myint Oo, Minister for Foreign Affairs Wunna Maung Lwin, house speaker Shwe Mann, and Minister for Science andTechnology Aye Myint.

KIA is Ready for Ceasefire, if Offered Through Proper Channels

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) is ready to stop fighting, but first it wants guarantees that any ceasefire proposal offered on behalf of the government will be respected by Burmese military commanders, according to officials from the group's political wing.
“We want the Burmese government or a leading member of the Burmese army to offer proof that they will stop firing. We can't just accept a short letter saying that they will stop,” said La Nan, the joint-secretary of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO).
Speaking to The Irrawaddy on Thursday, La Nan said that the KIO recently received a letter from Thein Zaw, the former Minister of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs, stating that “Northern Regional Military Commander Brig-Gen Zeyar Aung has already ordered his troops to stop firing, and the KIA needs to stop firing as well.”

KIA denies starting war with Burmese Army

The Kachin Independence Organization/Army (KIO/A) has condemned the orchestrated propaganda by the Burmese government that it started the recent conflict in its state run newspaper the New Light Of Myanmar on June 18. The report alleged that the KIA started the war.
The statement released on June 20 by KIO said the military offensive was launched by the Burmese government willfully.

A delegation of representatives from the NCUB attends the Liberal International 57th Congress in Manila, the Philippines from June 16th until the 20th. U Maung Maung, General Secretary of the NCUB; Nyo Ohn Myint, director of the foreign affairs committee of the NCUB; and Moe Zaw Oo, in charge of the NLD-LA’s foreign affairs committee, attend the conference, which is organized by the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats and the Liberal Party of the Philippines.
The theme of the conference is Human Rights and Trade, and delegates will discuss issues such as democracy and development, and will hear from liberal democratic politicians and activists from around the world.
U Maung Maung will speak at the ‘Speeches of Liberal Leaders,’ where he will update attendees on the situation of human rights in Burma, and their relationship to trade. Nyo Ohn Myint will speak at a workshop on dealing with dictatorial regimes, and he will be joined on the panel by Hon. Moses Mzila Ndlovu, Minster for National Healing, Reconciliation, and Integration of Zimbabwe and a member of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change. Moe Zaw Oo will participate on a panel discussing leading non-violent political change in the Twitter generation. He will be joined on the panel by a number of experienced leaders of youth political movements.
The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) is a coalition of liberal and democratic political parties from across Asia, and includes the ruling Democrat Party of Thailand, the Liberal Party of the Philippines, and the Sam Rainsy Party of Cambodia. The NCUB is also a member of CALD.
